It is accepted to consider the date of leasing birth is 1954 when usual rent has received an additional feature - an opportunity to use accelerated amortization for leased assets in order to tax lessee.
All history of leasing development in the West shows that the accelerated amortization with a view of the taxation is one of the main attributes, distinguishing usual rent from leasing. Lease accompanied by the accelerated amortization allows the leasing companies "to transfer" benefit of the accelerated amortization to lessee that is expressed in reduction in financial leasing costs.
On the one hand, the accelerated amortization allowed to optimize the taxation of lessor during leasing contract, and on the other hand, at the end of contract there was no additional taxation at property transfer of the lessee as the equipment was completely amortized. The institute of the accelerated amortization has lain in a basis of creation of leasing as such, and also has made leasing competitive in comparison with usual rent or the credit.
In Ukraine financial rent has appeared much later - in the beginning of 90th years. Therefore the history of leasing in Ukraine totals only one and a half ten years while in the West - there is more than half-century. Nevertheless, in our country more and more enterprises have already estimated advantages of leasing.
